Opinion Writing: Sharing What We Think, Feel, and Prefer

Learners will move through the emergent writing cycle by talking, drawing, drafting with phonetic labels, revising with details, editing with partners, and publishing finished work.

Learners will compose and illustrate personal narratives recounting real events with characters, settings, temporal sequence, and personal feelings.

Learners will create and illustrate fictional stories featuring invented characters, imaginative settings, sequenced problems and solutions, and character feelings.

Learners will compose and illustrate informative texts by naming a topic, supplying true facts and descriptive details, and writing a clear concluding sentence.

Learners will compose procedural and how-to texts detailing materials, sequential numbered steps with action verbs, and clear closures.

Learners will state opinions about topics, preferences, and books, provide supporting reasons with 'because', and write persuasive reflections.

Learners will participate in shared research projects by asking questions, gathering information across multiple sources, recording notes, and presenting multimodal findings.
