Imagine you and your friend have 6 yummy cookies. If you get 5 cookies and your friend only gets 1, how would your friend feel?
That is not fair! Fair sharing means everyone gets the same amount.
πInteractive diagram
How do we make sure both plates end up with the exact same number of cookies?
One for You, One for Me
The easiest way to share fairly is to hand items out one by one. You give one to your friend, take one for yourself, and keep taking turns until all items are gone.
πInteractive diagram
When we count Plate A, we find 3 cookies. When we count Plate B, we find 3 cookies β both friends have equal shares!
What happens if another friend joins the game?
Sharing Between 3 Friends
Now we have 6 toy cars and 3 friends: Sam, Maya, and Ben. We pass out one car to each person until the middle pile is empty.
πInteractive diagram
To check if it is fair, count each pile: Sam has 2, Maya has 2, and Ben has 2. Because every number is the same, everyone gets a fair share.
