What do you get if you multiply a number zero times? Most people guess zero, but the real answer will surprise you!
The Power Pattern
An exponent (or power) is a tiny number that tells you how many times to multiply a base number by itself. For example, 23 means 2ร2ร2=8.

Any Number Divided by Itself
We know that any number divided by itself equals 1, like 5252โ=2525โ=1.
This proof relies on the Quotient Rule of exponents: amamโ=amโm=a0. Because any non-zero value divided by itself equals 1, it logically follows that a0=1.
