The Writing Lines
Notice the letter Starting Points: lower-case letters never start from the baseline moving upward. They always begin at the top line, middle line, or slightly below the middle line.
We write on three main lines: the top line (the sky), the dashed middle line (the fence), and the bottom line (the grass).
Some letters stay small between the middle and bottom lines, some reach tall to the top, and some dip into the dirt below.
These guidelines create three Letter Line Zones: body letters (a, c, e) fit in the middle zone, tall ascenders (b, d, f) touch the top line, and descenders (g) dip below the baseline.
