Child standards (4)
- OGS.12.SEP.1Formulate testable scientific questions and research hypotheses based on empirical observations, mathematical models, and established physical theories; design descriptive, comparative, and controlled experimental investigations with identified independent, dependent, and controlled variables.
- OGS.12.SEP.2Execute safe laboratory, classroom, and field procedures using precision physical instruments, digital probes, and data acquisition interfaces; record unbiased measurements with appropriate SI units, instrumental resolution limits, significant figures, and uncertainty propagation.
- OGS.12.SEP.3Analyze and model quantitative data using algebraic equations, physical tables, linear regression, scatter plots, error bars, and graph slope/intercept interpretations; evaluate sources of random and systematic error, statistical dispersion, and goodness of fit.
- OGS.12.SEP.4Distinguish rigorously among scientific hypotheses, theories, laws, and models; evaluate empirical evidence versus descriptive claims, trace historical paradigm shifts, acknowledge source attribution, and engage in collaborative scientific argumentation with openness to counter-evidence.
