OGM.5.MD
Open Global Math Standards 2026™ · 4th Grade
Measurement, Units, Area, Perimeter & Conversions
Child standards (4)
- OGM.5.MD.1Know relative sizes of measurement units within metric (km, m, dm, cm, mm; t, kg, g, mg; hl, l, dl, cl, ml) and customary systems (lb, oz; gal, qt, pt, c; yd, ft, in); convert from larger to smaller units and express conversion tables.
- OGM.5.MD.2Use the four operations to solve real-world problems involving distances, intervals of time, liquid volumes, masses/weights of objects, scale instruments with partial and unmarked units, and money (involving fractions and decimals).
- OGM.5.MD.3Read, calculate, and convert time across 12-hour (a.m./p.m.) and 24-hour clocks, analogue and digital dials; solve elapsed time problems across seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, years, and calendar cycles.
- OGM.5.MD.4Apply formulas for the perimeter and area of rectangles, squares (P = 2l + 2w, P = 4s, A = l × w), and composite rectilinear figures (using cm², dm², m²); explore the relationship between fixed perimeter and varying area and vice versa.
