Maintaining Screen Direction
When the camera stays on one side of the axis, Character A always looks toward screen-right, while Character B always looks toward screen-left. This alignment is called an eyeline match, a cut that aligns a character's gaze in one shot with the subject or person in the next shot.
The rule applies equally to motion: if a car travels from left to right across the screen, every subsequent cut must show the car moving left-to-right unless a transition shows it turning.
