Have you ever watched an ice skater spin so fast their arms blur, and then instantly freeze on one foot without falling over?
The secret isn't magic β it's all about how you move your arms and control your center of balance.

How does spreading your arms change how fast you turn?
The Arm Rule
When you stretch your arms out wide, your body weight spreads far from your center, which slows your spin down.
When you pull your arms tightly into your chest, all your weight hugs the center line, making you whip around much faster.

Spinning is fun, but what happens when you need to stop without wobbling?
Sticking the Landing
To brake a fast spin, open your arms wide to slow yourself down, bend your knees, and plant both feet firmly on the ground.
Dancers also use spotting β picking one target on the wall at eye level and snapping their eyes back to it on every turn to prevent dizziness.
