Have you ever tried running while bent over like a pretzel? It slows you down, and your muscles get tired right away!
Typing works the same way: good posture (the way you hold your body while sitting) gives your arms and hands the freedom to move quickly.
Sit Tall and Straight
When you sit at a computer, keep your back straight against the chair like a proud superhero instead of slumping like a melting snowman.
Sitting straight gives your lungs room to breathe and stops your shoulders from aching while you type.
๐Interactive diagram
What keeps you from wobbling or tipping in your chair while you sit tall?
Feet Flat on the Floor
Plant both feet flat on the floor, side by side like two steady kickstands on a bicycle.
If your feet dangle in the air, place a small footrest or a sturdy box under them so your knees bend comfortably at a right angle.
Now that your back and feet are in place, where should your eyes be looking?
Screen at Eye Level
Your computer screen should sit directly in front of you with the top of the monitor right at eye level.
