If you want to toss a ball to a friend standing right next to you, a gentle underhand toss works great.
To launch a ball all the way across the field, you need the overhand throw, which uses your entire body like a coiled spring.
How do you set up your body before the throw even starts?
Step 1: Stance and Arm Placement
Start by standing sideways so your non-throwing shoulder points straight toward your partner.
Raise your throwing arm up and back so your elbow makes an L-shape near your ear, while your other hand points forward like an aiming sight.

Where does the real throwing power come from once your arm is in position?
Step 2: Step and Trunk Rotation
Take a big step forward with your opposite foot β if you throw with your right hand, step forward with your left foot.
As that foot lands, twist your hips and chest toward your partner. This twisting motion is called trunk rotation, and it whips your arm forward with huge speed.

Now that your body is spinning forward at full speed, when do your fingers let go of the ball?
