Le Chatelier's Principle
In 1884, French chemist Henri Le Chatelier wanted to understand how industrial chemical reactions respond when their conditions are disrupted.
He discovered that when a system at dynamic equilibrium is subjected to a change in conditions, the system shifts to counteract that change.
You can think of equilibrium like a chemical reflex: whatever you do to the system, the system responds by doing the exact opposite to restore balance.

Why does this happen? A disturbance changes the rate of either the forward or reverse reaction, forcing the faster reaction to run until both rates match again.
