When you look at a giant map in a shopping mall, what is the very first thing you look for? You search for the bright red dot that says You Are Here!
In fitness, your starting point is called your baselineβ€”a simple check of what your body can do right now so you can watch yourself get stronger over time.
How do we find your starting point for each part of your body? Let's begin with your hardest working muscle: your heart.

Station 1: Heart and Lungs

Your cardiorespiratory endurance is how well your heart and lungs deliver oxygen to your body while you run, swim, or dance.
A great baseline check is the 3-minute step test, where you step up and down on a sturdy 12-inch bench to a steady beat, then count your heartbeats for 60 seconds.
Your heart is all checked outβ€”so how do we measure the power in your arms, legs, and tummy?

Station 2: Muscles in Action

Muscular strength is the total force your muscles can produce in one big push, while muscular endurance is how long your muscles can keep working without getting tired.
We test strength with smooth 90-degree push-ups to see your push power, and we test endurance with a timed forearm plank to see how long your core holds steady.
