The Tough Suit of Armor
Unlike humans with bones inside our bodies, insects wear their skeleton on the outside like a hard suit of armor, called an exoskeleton.
Because this hard shell cannot stretch, a growing insect must break out of its old skin to grow bigger in a process called molting.
