If you let go of your pencil right now, where does it go?
It drops straight to the floor every single time.
Why doesn't it float up toward the ceiling or zoom sideways across the room?
What Is Gravity?
A force is a push or a pull that makes objects move or change direction.
Gravity is the invisible pulling force that pulls objects down toward the ground.
In 1687, the scientist Isaac Newton realized that Earth pulls on every single object around us, from falling apples to the Moon in the sky.

So why aren't all the things around your room falling right now?
Supported vs. Unsupported
When a book rests on your desk, the desk holds it up and stops it from falling.
We say the book is supported by the desk.
An object is unsupported when nothing is underneath to hold it up โ like a ball you just let go of in midair.
