Imagine strapping on a pair of goggles that lets you see, hear, and feel everything right through someone else's eyes.
In books, the storyteller is called the narrator, and the angle from which they tell the tale is their point of view.
When the narrator is an actual character inside the adventure, we call it first-person narration.

How do you know for sure that a character is telling the story? You look for specific clue words.
The Clue Words
First-person storytellers talk directly to us using first-person pronouns like I, me, and my.
If the narrator is part of a group, they will also use plural clue words like we, us, and our.
