What if you could find a bustling neighborhood with dozens of tiny creatures just by flipping over a single wet rock?
A habitat is the large natural home of an animal or plant, while a micro-habitat is a tiny, specific spot within it that has its own special conditions.

Why would a tiny creature choose to live under a fallen log instead of out in the bright, open grass?
Under the Rotting Log
When fallen tree wood slowly rots on the ground, it blocks sunlight and traps moisture underneath, creating a damp and dark shelter.

The Leaf Litter Layer
Leaf litter is the layer of fallen leaves, twigs, and bark that blankets the ground like a thick, natural rug.
